Becoming a B3rd Athlete in today’s world is a significant challenge. Society often teaches that life is about personal success and achievement, but the gospel of Jesus Christ calls us to live in a radically different way. The Christian life, both within and outside of athletics, teaches us to love God first and serve our neighbors with love and charity.
Given that very few young athletes will pursue a career in professional sports, it’s crucial for each athlete to understand the deeper why behind their pursuit of excellence. Sports should be a means of personal growth and learning, all while glorifying God.
What should athletes learn through sports? Teamwork, character, and values—qualities that will shape them into future men and women of faith, dedicated to serving God and others.
Journey to Becoming 3rd
The Journey to Becoming 3rd is a response to Jesus' command to love the Lord our God with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength, and to love our neighbor as ourselves.
Each week, we introduce a new topic and spend the remainder of the week learning from Scripture. The weekly lesson will challenge you to grow spiritually, help you become a better teammate, and prepare you to be holy men and women of God. On Tuesday, we dive into the Old Testament; Wednesday is dedicated to praying through the Psalms; Thursday offers a reflection from the New Testament; and each Friday, we conclude with teachings from the Gospels.
