At B3rd Athletics, we believe God uses our pursuit of excellence through competitive sports to help each individual grow in faith, knowledge, and leadership. Our mission is to inspire more coaches and athletes to lead with Christian values through intentional mission driven programs. The sports classroom is still one of the most impactful educational tools in the world, but it's time for some improvements. All over social media you see individualisms impact on athletic culture and this philosophy has to go. It bears no fruit and the long-term results are horrible for society. Our Story
B3rd Athletics was founded by Tanner and Andrea Field out of a shared conviction that coaching should extend far beyond developing athletic performance. They believed sport was never intended to be an end in itself but rather a God-given classroom where athletes, coaches, and parents could grow in faith, character, and excellence. Their vision was to help individuals look beyond the temporary rewards of competition and instead focus on becoming the men and women God created them to be. Athletics is a platform, not a purpose, and when viewed through a biblical lens, it becomes one of the most powerful environments for discipleship and personal transformation.
What began as a commitment to coach with excellence while intentionally loving every athlete has grown into B3rd Athletics—a ministry dedicated to helping coaches, athletes, parents, schools, and communities integrate faith and sport. Through biblical teaching, practical coaching principles, and intentional character development, B3rd Athletics identifies the virtues, habits, and disciplines that lead to excellence both on the field and in everyday life. The organization exists to help people place God first, serve others second, and pursue personal excellence with humility and purpose.
The philosophy behind B3rd Athletics has been tested through years of coaching experience. Over a ten-year span, teams led by Coach Field under these principles advanced to seven Final Fours, captured three state championships, earned more than 300 victories, and helped numerous athletes continue their careers at the collegiate level. While success always requires talented athletes, experience has consistently shown that talent alone is never enough. One of the greatest challenges in coaching is helping gifted individuals overcome the pull of ego and the culture of individualism that often defines modern sport. Building a unified, mission-driven team requires a purpose greater than winning. B3rd Athletics exists to help create that culture by forming athletes and coaches whose identities are rooted in Christ, whose perspectives are centered on serving others, and whose pursuit of excellence ultimately glorifies God.
